Privacy Please! How Far is Too Far for Employers?

A while ago I was talking to my mom about social networks and she mentioned how some jobs require you to give them access to your social networking accounts in order to get the job. My initial reaction was...

Whaaaaaaat?!

So you know I had to look into it more because this just did not make sense to me. I came across this article in the NYTimes called Social Media History Becomes a New Job Hurdle. They talk about companies scouring the Internet in search of whatever they can find about you including "racist remarks" and "reference to drugs". One company found a prospective employee on Craigslist looking for OxyCotin! Another guy had a picture posted online standing in a greenhouse with large marijuana plants...DUMMY! I guess these people did not get the job.


They go on to talk about other incidents that have been found, but they also brought up a good point. Jobs are not allowed to discriminate against applicants on the basis of things like race, religion, disability, etc. However, this Internet snooping opens them up to find out things they aren't even allowed to ask you on your application. I agree that you shouldn't post anything that is not respectable on the Internet because it is ALWAYS there even if you think you deleted it BUT I also think jobs are going too far.


This article I found talks about a man who when applying for a job was asked to provide his Facebook credentials during the INTERVIEW. Are you kidding me? Jobs need to get real and stop trippin'! I personally do not have anything incriminating on any of my social networking sites, but I still find it unsettling that a potential employer would ask that of me. Sometimes I discuss PERSONAL and NON-CRIMINAL matters with my family and friends and I do not feel they have a right to have access to this. I don't trust them not to go through my messages and friends and just totally invade my privacy...no Sir...no Ma'am!

You're Invited! Chicken Pox Party!...Ummmm Ok

So I was reading this article on ABC News website and was completely disgusted! Parents actually order lollipops called "Pox Pops" that children with the chicken pox have LICKED in order to expose their children to chicken pox. They say that it controls when their children get it. I also heard about "Pox Parties" where parents throw parties and invite healthy and sick children to expose the kids to the chicken pox.


I personally think both of those are gross and reckless. I know that it is better for your child to get it young, but really? Do we have to go this far? There are actually Facebook groups dedicated to these crazy acts and the members are growing exponentially! You can actually find a party in your area to send your kids to. I personally get the heebie jeebies when I think of a bunch of sick kids in one place breathing all my good air...gross!


Doctors are trying to spread the word that sending infected lollipops through the mail is dangerous AND Illegal! When you expose your child to these licked pops, you do not know what other diseases that child is carrying and now you have exposed your child! It is also a federal crime to send diseases and viruses through the mail...ANTHRAX SCARE PEOPLE!!! They said you can get up to 20 years sentenced for doing this. It just isn't worth it. Just take your child to Chuck E. Cheese a few times a month!


Like I said, SICK!

One of the Strangest Names EVER!

Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop...

Yes, I said Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop LOL. Below is a picture of Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop who was arrested last week for carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and a violation of probation in Madison, Wisc.

Apparently he legally changed his name from Jeffrey Drew Wilschke to THAT! Like I sometimes wonder if there is no limit on what someone can change their name to. WHY would they let him do that?! Can I just go change my name to Sniff Sniff Scratch Scratch Sneeze and they will sign the papers and let me walk out?


This was definitely worth asking WHY???

Why Do I Do The Things I Do?

So I decided to turn the tables on ME with this WHY??? post and talk about some of the things I do in which I constantly ask "Why Brittany". So here they are...


1. WHY when I stay at a hotel in which the towels are lined up on a shelf IN the shower do I always choose the middle one?


2. WHY do I eat a reeses peanut buttercup by eating around the edges first to get rid of ridged part and THEN eat the rest?


3. WHY do I occasionally walk by a mirror and feel the need to (and do) strike a pose?


4. WHY do I still like to be tucked into bed and have someone cut the lights off for me?


5. WHY when typing informally, I sometimes feel the need to always have 3 "!"s, "?"s and/or "."s???


6. WHY do I like to wrap my toast around a sausage link and eat it like a pig in a blanket?


7. WHY do I like to put ketchup and bacon (or sausage) in my grits?

Friday - Rebecca Black

Ok so I feel really bad for putting this girl out there, but I have to admit this is funny. Honestly I don't think it's all that bad and she just needs to work on the tone of the way she says certain things and work on the lyrics a little bit. What makes it funny to ME is some of the lyrics, not that she can't sing or anything because she sound better than some people I have heard over the years.


Apparently her parents paid for this, about $4000 I think. I don't know if that was the total or partial cost though. Sad part is she dropped out of school because she was being bullied and is now being home-schooled. People were mocking her when she walks by saying "Friday Friday Friday" or "Oh hey, Rebecca, guess what day it is?" (I will admit I busted out laughing on that one.)


Funny thing is, Justin Bieber's "Baby" song was criticized as being the most disliked YouTube video back when it first aired and look at him. She may be a joke now, but let's see who selling out concerts in 6 months. News stories say plenty of celebs like Jessica Alba and Christina Aguilera were teased in school as well, but who cares, they are top dogs now. 


Apparently she made another song called "My Moment" (see below) which talks about her bullying so I am glad this hasn't crushed her spirit. I actually like this one. I am not going to go out and buy the cd, but I think kids in her age group or younger would. She is no different than Victoria or Selina Gomez in my opinion. My favorite part in "My Moment" actually is when she says "Hope that you are happy cuz I'm about to blow up". She is speaking what she wants and going for it. I think she has potential.

"Weird" Isn't It?

So this will be a short one, but had to be done. Yesterday I went to type the word "weird" and was like ok "w-i-e-r-d", but spell check told me I was wrong. Soooo what is the point of the whole "i before e, except after c, but sometimes....blah blah"? I just don't get why we make up these rules and then have so many exceptions to the rule. We got words like society, concierge, foreign...and the list goes on. These words are not implementing the "i before e, except after c" rule at all. Basically the message here is just learn how to spell the daggon words you use in life and you won't have a problem!


I will admit however that it makes sense to be spelled "weird" the way it is spelled. It actually sounds the way it is spelled... "we-ird"...right?

I dunno.

Chris & Justin B. Video Flop (Next To You)

I am sorry, but I had to chose this video to be the first Why??? post because the first time I saw this....I asked myself "Self?", myself said "Hmmm"..."Why?". So here it is. Now I LOVE this song, think it's beautiful, and Chris and Justin sound together. BUT I have a few problems with this video....


1. What the heck is the point? I sat the whole video waiting for it to make some sense. Is the world coming to an end? Are aliens taking over? Is this suppose to represent 911? They mentioned the sky falling in the song soooo is it although nothing is seen falling? WHAT THE HECK IS HAPPENING???? I am getting pissed just thinking about it actually, like who makes videos like this and give you no answers at the end? I need a part 2 to explain this guys, please and thank you.


2. Is this video (taking place in the middle of a city it seems) really the place for tribal dancers? Whose idea was that? Not much else to say about this, I just don't get it.


3. Did Chris Brown's girl die? And Justin got his girl? I watched it again and I don't know and it bothers me. Why go through all that effort showing him running to her after she gets hit by that car and then not even show her again? I guess we are suppose to think she died .


4. This last thing isn't a big deal, but I think the beginning was dumb and didn't need inclusion. This is not Moonwalker, we don't need all that extra stuff. Point blank.


So yea, I really think this video could have matched the quality of the song, but they failed miserably. Guess I will just try to ignore the pictures in my head and confusion from this video next time I hear the song on the radio or listen to it on my ipod, in hopes it won't ruin the experience.

Syringes in Clothes?

Warning Shoppers: Clothes May Have Syringe Inside!!!

So it has been reported at Walmart in Cartersville, GA that people are finding syringes in clothes AND being stuck by them! I mean seriously? We have soooo many other things to worry about as human beings and I really do not want to have to be scared to go shopping now. First syringes in telephone booth change returns and now this. Why should I now have to shop by picking up items by pinching them and shaking them out? Takes the fun out of shopping! Oh and just in case I guess I will be shaking shoes upside down as well next time I find a nice pair. Shoot winter is approaching...check those hats, folded up scarfs, and gloves while you are at it. Just disgusting! Parents really have a reason to tell their children NOT to touch anything in the store now. All I have to say is online shopping is starting to look REAL good right about now if this is what I have to deal with. I see now why people do not want to bring children into this world, look what they have to look forward to, people are crazy. 


I really hope they catch the people that did this because they deserve to go to jail!

Why??? - Intro

You see that face above? That is the look I get every time I come across certain things in life and have to ask myself...Why???


Why does he look like that?
Why did she say that?
Why did they produce that video?
Why didn't I just act like I didn't see that?


I know you get that same look on your face probably every daggon day so I don't feel too bad. Since misery loves company, I am going to share some of those moments with you in hopes that as a unit, we can find an answer to these questions that burn deep within our souls!
